The 51st Season of Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic finds us all brimming with pride and still basking in the glow of our incredible Gala 50th Anniversary Reunion Concert on May 31, 2010! That momentous evening was the fitting culmination of a year-long celebration of the SYAP family and of its founder, Salvatore Princiotti! Maestro Princiotti, who is STILL on the podium conducting the senior orchestra YAP, and acting as music director for the organization, has lovingly shaped an organization deeply committed to a nurturing and non-competitive atmosphere for learning, while placing a heavy emphasis on excellence and the joy of making music.

I encourage you to check out the DVD which includes the documentary tribute to Mr. Princiotti and the entire Reunion concert, as well as highlights from the memorable Reunion Weekend, and to consider it as a lovely gift to inspire the young people in your life.

This season we welcome Jessica Raposo as conductor of Young People's and Young Artists Flute Choirs. She replaces Sharon Levin, who will be missed as she settles into her new life in Albany; we wish her every happiness musical and otherwise!

Jessica joins Gloria Sinaguglia, conductor of Young
People's Symphony, Barbara DiFranco, director of
Young String Ensemble, founder Sal Princiotti, at the helm of Young Artists Philharmonic and myself,
leading the Young People's and Young Artists Jazz
Ensembles.

Another successful (our 18th annual!) Summer Jazz
Workshop inaugurated 2 new relationships one with ATRIA Stamford, which hosted our Summer Jazz Workshop concert on July 31, and with whom we expect to build a deep and long-lasting community partnership, and one with the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, which provided the rehearsal venue for the 2-week Workshop, creating what we hope will be the model for a future alliance.

We continue to be delighted by the annual growth of
SYAP's Strings Outreach Program at Waterside School led by Rosemary Kovacs and assisted by Marja Maunula, and our long and valued association with Stamford Town Center, as we facilitate concerts at Center Court and a summer series, Jazz on the Plaza, back by popular demand!

We welcome you to the SYAP family, and invite you
to join us as we launch the next 50 years!

Sincerely,
